George Wright received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University in December 1979. He found employment with Scurlock Oil Company, in 1980, as a crude oil buyer. In 1985, he was promoted to District Manager, and was given responsibilities such as originating crude oil transportation exchanges, as well as other buy/sell exchanges.

Backed by Siemens A.G. of Germany, George and two partners formed GulfMark Energy in 1990. GulfMark bought, sold and traded crude oil.

In 1992, Adam’s Resources & Energy bought out all shareholders of GulfMark Energy, and GulfMark became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adam’s Resources. In 2000, GulfMark entered into a joint venture with Williams Energy, to provide credit and capital, to fund the JV’s efforts in buying, selling and trading in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The JV bought approximately 350,000 bpd at the lease in that year.

In 2002, Mr. Wright left Adam’s Resources in order to start Jag Energy with James R Brann. JAG Energy, Inc., a privately held Texas Corporation, became the first agent/representative for ChevronTexaco Global Trading in 2002. JAG Energy, now JAG Energy USA, Inc., concludes purchases, sales and exchanges for Chevron, for crude oil and condensate at the lease, through the agency agreement. JAG also purchases refined products, natural gasoline, y-grade, and various other petroleum products in it’s own name.
